The Surface Engineering Coating Association (SECA) is a nonprofit association of companies located in the U.S. and Canada which apply various coatings using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and/or physical vapor deposition (PVD) to cutting tools, forming tools, molds, precision components, and decorative products


Membership Qualifications

Membership in SECA is open to companies which have been coating for at least 1 year using CVD and/or PVD processes in North America.


Statistics Program

The initial focus of SECA is to track the toll coating market through a detailed aggregate report of members' sales of CVD and PVD coatings applied to cutting tools, forming tools, molds, precision components, and decorative products. All data reported by members to the Association office is kept confidential - only Association totals are shown in the monthly report.


Committees and Future Projects

Other activities undertaken by SECA include: industry promotion and education, industry surveys, developing forecasting information, and developing industry guidelines.


Management

The Managing Director of SECA is Teeter Marketing Services headquartered in Niagara Falls, NY. Fred Teeter, President is a ceramic engineer with 37 years experience in the industrial coatings industry. Teeter Marketing Services coordinates all association projects, arranges associated meetings, and coordinates the SECA statistics in a confidential manner.

SECA also retains Bond, Schoeneck and King, a nationally recognized law firm, to oversee all association activities to ensure strict compliance with our nation's antitrust laws.


Association Structure

Each Full Member of SECA is represented on the Association's Board of Trustees. The Association officers include a President, Vice President, and Secretary. The Managing Director administers the activities of the Association in accordance with direction provided by the Board of Trustees.


Meetings

SECA meets twice annually - Spring and Fall. Meetings are held either in conjunction with another industry event or in a convenient business location. The meetings are focused strictly on business - social activities are not included.

Associate Membership Benefits

Membership Qualifications

Associate Membership in SECA is open to individuals or entities having a direct educational, technical, regulatory or business relationship to the Full Membership.

Active Committees

Industry Education and Awareness Committee Overall Purpose: To establish SECA as the recognized authority in the surface coatings industry through the development, production, promotion, and dissemination of information and materials to all appropriate audiences, especially current and prospective users of surface coatings.


Product Specifications Committee

Overall Purpose: This Committee will research and collect current product specifications on coatings. A long-term objective will be to develop SECA product specifications. The Committee will be sensitive to and work with end users and manufacturers of the products being coated to prioritize efforts while under the direction of the Board of Trustees.


Statistics Committee

Overall Purpose: Recommend, develop and/or review, on an ongoing basis, a comprehensive information program for use by the Association members.
