About Us

History

The Surface Engineering Coating Association was envisioned by six leading companies in the coating service industry during 1999 and incorporated in Ohio as a nonprofit organization. Formal operations began January 1, 2000 with 18 members representing on the order of 80% of the coating service business at that time.

Full membership is based on North American companies which provide CVD and PVD coating services for cutting tools, forming tools, molding tools, precision components, and decorative applications.

The initial, and still primary focus of the Association is to track the service coating market through a quarterly detailed statistics report. In addition, committees work on: industry education and awareness, statistics, product guidelines, and membership.

Two meetings, Spring and Fall, are held each year to review all the business activities of the Association. The Spring meeting is typically held during the ICMCTF Conference in San Diego and the Fall meeting during IMTS in Chicago or other major trade show on off IMTS years.
